The restaurant Chaparro Alentejano, located at Holiday Inn Beja, once again brings together gastronomy and tradition in a new edition of its themed nights. On November 15 at 8:00 p.m., the restaurant will host the group Descendentes for the event “Cante à Mesa”, a night that promises to celebrate the intangible heritage of Alentejo through music and good food.

Formed by Jorge Cruz, Miguel Costa, and Mike, all natives of Alentejo, the musical project Descendentes has been winning over audiences with its sound deeply rooted in tradition and infused with a contemporary touch. Their debut single, “Carta de Despedida” (Goodbye Letter, in English), quickly became a success, establishing the trio as one of the most promising voices in the Alentejo music scene.

The night will be marked by the authenticity of Cante Alentejano, performed live, and by a special menu of small plates that pays tribute to the region’s flavors, prepared by the restaurant’s team.

Dinner begins with a selection of cold appetizers and small plates, including Alentejo bread and Forno da Telha olive oil, marinated olives, a selection of regional cheeses, jams and cured meats, Chaparro Alentejano pâté, chickpea salad with chorizo, marinated mushrooms, and rabbit escabeche.

This will be followed by a variety of hot and hearty dishes, featuring green beans and Alentejo-style tomato stew, pork “pica-pau” with house pickles, and octopus fritters with octopus rice.

For dessert, there will be no shortage of Portuguese traditional sweets, such as rice pudding, crème brûlée, and chocolate mousse with fleur de sel and Forno da Telha olive oil. The menu also includes house wine, soft drinks, water, and coffee. The event is priced at €35 per person.

More than just a dinner, “Cante à Mesa with Descendentes” offers an encounter between music, gastronomy, and the cultural identity of Alentejo, in a genuine and welcoming atmosphere at the heart of Beja.

After this night, one thing is certain: no one will leave Chaparro Alentejano wanting to write a “Carta de Despedida.”
