Panama’s Qualified Investor Program Sets New Record as Global Connectivity Expands

Panama continues to strengthen its position as a leading investment destination in Latin America, supported by record results from the Qualified Investor Program and new developments in the country’s international connectivity.

Between July 2025 and June 2026, Panama’s Ministry of Commerce and Industries issued 268 Qualified Investor Certifications, representing a 38% increase compared to the previous 12-month period. The approved applications supported a total investment volume of USD 113.6 million, an increase of USD 23.4 million year over year.

Real estate remained the main investment area, accounting for 87.3% of the total volume. The program continued to attract investors from a broad range of international markets, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Russia, and other countries.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, the continued digitalization of government procedures has contributed to faster processing times and greater operational efficiency, making the program increasingly accessible to qualified applicants.

Panama is also reinforcing its connections with Asia. A new air services agreement signed between Panama and Japan paves the way for future direct flights between Tokyo and Panama City. In addition to facilitating travel, the agreement is expected to strengthen business, tourism, trade, logistics, and investment ties between Latin America and Asia.

Together, these developments highlight Panama’s growing international reach, increased investment opportunities, and expanding role as a strategic regional hub.
